We are seeking a motivated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our expanding team.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Physician Supervisor, the Physician Assistant provides comprehensive occupational health and urgent care services. The PA will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a range of injuries and illnesses in accordance with scope of practice and clinical protocols. This role also contributes to continuous improvement of clinical operations, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care:
- Provide timely evaluation and treatment of work-related and urgent care conditions.
- Perform physical exams, including pre-placement, DOT, surveillance, and return-to-work assessments.
- Interpret diagnostic studies (e.g., X-rays, labs, EKGs) and make appropriate treatment decisions.
- Administer procedures such as wound care, splinting, suturing, injections, and more as required.
- Document all clinical encounters thoroughly and accurately in the EMR.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with supervising physicians and clinical staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
- Participate in case management and care plan reviews when appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with patients, employers, and other stakeholders.
Operations & Quality:
- Support implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices in line with occupational medicine standards.
- Assist in evaluating and refining clinic processes for quality and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies, including HIPAA.
Leadership & Professional Development:
- Assist clinical team with policy adherence and procedural questions.
- Report feedback, concerns, or complaints to the Medical Director as needed.
- Stay current with continuing education, certifications, and best practices in occupational and urgent care medicine.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of employment
- NCCPA Certification (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
- DOT Certification (NRCME) required or willingness to obtain
Experience:
- 2+ years preferred in Occupational Health, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of occupational health protocols and work-related injury treatment
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and workers’ compensation regulations
- Proficiency with EMRs and medical documentation
- Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and time management skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities
